Pertusscan PT IgG - a new tool for accurate diagnosis of pertussis infection

May 11, 2012 - Company News, Product News
Euro Diagnostica introduces Pertusscan PT IgG ELISA for the detection of IgG antibodies against Bordetella pertussis toxin (PT) in serum specimens. The product provides high specificity and sensitivity for the differential diagnosis of the pertussis infection and is calibrated against NIBSC 89/530 and WHO 06/140. The test is intended for determination of current/recent infection.

Euro Diagnostica recommends the highly acclaimed and customer proven Pertusscan TRO. This diagnostic package allows for individual testing of IgG or IgA against PT or FHA which further strengthen the diagnostic accuracy in specific groups such as the elderly or previously immunized individuals.

Pertusscan TRO is an enzyme linked immuno sorbent assay (ELISA) for the detection of IgA and IgG antibodies against Bordetella Pertussis filamentous hemagglutinin (FHA) and pertussis toxin (PT) in serum or plasma specimens.

Elevated OD value of IgG to PT (³1.0) with or without elevated IgG to FHA indicates previous infection or immunization and can be used as an indicator of immunity to the disease. In patients older than 60 years of age an isolated IgA rise to FHA is often seen during current infection. Un-immunized children, especially infants may show poor response to FHA but have high rises to PT.
