RA and anti-TNF alpha treatment

In a recent literature review on the risk of cancer as a result of anti-TNF alpha treatmet the conclusion was "With these caveats in mind, it is interesting to note that these studies revealed little or no cancer risk associated with TNF inhibitors.

Long-term followup studies of patients receiving TNF inhibitors may give different results, because many cancers develop very slowly. The risk of cancer associated with new biologic agents should be examined as experience with these drugs accumulates.
