RIA (Radioimmunoassay)

Radioimmunoassay (RIA) is a competitive-binding immunoassay.

An unknown quantity of antigen in test samples competes with a fixed concentration of radiolabelled antigen in binding to a fixed amount of antibody. Known concentrations of unlabelled antigen are included in the assay to construct a standard calibration curve from which the concentration of antigen in test samples can be calculated.

The radioimmunoassay format is inherently associated with a high analytical sensitivity and in combination with a specific detection antiserum, result in a high performing assay. Euro Diagnostica has developed a line of radioimmunoassays, EULISA, for the quantification of a number of peptide hormones involved in critical physiological processes such as metabolism and haemostasis. The assays combine high sensitivity with competitive stabile performance. The Euro Diagnostica RIA portfolio consists of the following assays:

  • Alpha-MSH
  • Angiotensin II
  • Chromogranin A
  • Gastrin
  • Glucagon
  • Pancreatic polypeptide (PP)
  • Somatostatin
  • Vasopressin, antidiuretic hormone (ADH)
  • Vasoactive intestinal polypeptide (VIP)
